The WHO has released the theme/ topic for World Health Day, 2015: Food Safety.
Approximately 2 million people, mostly children, die each year due to unsafe food.
In view of the increasing globalization of our food supply, it is imperative to strengthen the food safety systems in and between all countries.
The WHO has described five keys to safer food:
- Key 1: Keep it clean
- Key 2: Separate raw and cooked food
- Key 3: Cook food thoroughly
- Key 4: Cook food at safe temperatures
- Key 5: Use safe water and raw materials.
