Data

What is data?

A very simple definition would be: values obtained/ pertaining to something.

Are Data and Information the same?

No. Data (singular datum) is typically meaningless. It needs to be analyzed/ organized/ modified/ transformed to make sense. When data undergoes such changes, it becomes possible to make sense of it. Then it is called information.

Are information and knowledge the same?

No. When information undergoes analysis, we are able to reach a higher state of understanding. That state is called knowledge.
